May 2008
I would like to thank Mr. Bill Fuger for introducing Mr. Steve
Cass- Director, Sales Engineering & Technical Marketing,
and Mr. Greg Hammerstein- Director, Field Service. These gentlemen
did a fine job of bringing our membership up to date on Gulfstream's
changes in product support, and a breifing on the product line.
As you might expect, a great amount of interest centered on the
brand new long range, model 650. The Gulfstream 650 has the longest
range and the highest cruise speed of any business jet now flying.
The fly by wire system generated questions about redundancy and
safety, as well as interest in the next generation glass cockpit.
As I write this, I feel certain that the order book is in the
400 aircraft range. Again thanks to these fine gentlemen for
their informative presentation and Gulfstream for their continued
support of WAMA. As a side note, Bill Fuger is a former member
of the WAMA Board and would be a welcome addition to the Board
if he were able to return.
I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge Mr. Roger Boeckmann
for his hard work in putting together the tool box award. Roger
picked out and purchased the tools for our award winners, in addition
to handling all of the correspondence with the aviation trade
schools. This years winners were:
Alina Rizvi from Aviation High School, Anthony Colandrea from
Teterboro School of Aeronautics, Wayne Labert from Vaughn College
of Aeronautics & Technology, and Chris Malchisky from Stratford
School for Aviation Maintenance. Congratulations to all.
Don't forget the summer picnics, at Westchester County Airport
(2ea) and one at Oxford Airport. Please check our website for
times, dates and places.
I hate to end the President's letter on a sad note, but keep
our departed associate Paul Ahne and his family in your prayers.
The IMS Health Flight Dept. is the poorer for his loss.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bob Accosta President
